Wedding Wednesday: The Gallagher Wedding
The Gallagher Wedding | October 15, 2016 | Photography by: Jeff Colquhoun Photography
Joshua and Matthew first met through Facebook, getting to know each other online before meeting in person for their first date. After that first date, Joshua says he knew he wanted to marry Matthew and they haven't spent more than a week apart since! For the proposal, Joshua made a special Christmas ornament filled with small strips of paper with their favorite quotes, sweet sayings and a large one that said "Will You Marry Me?" As he took the ornament out of the box, Joshua got to one knee, and was so nervous he skipped his speech and simply asked the question. Matthew immediately said yes, followed by asking if Joshua was okay!
Their rustic country wedding had colors of burgundy and gray with plum accents, as well as bits of burnt orange for Matthew. They incorporated burlap, baby's breath and old bed springs to make centerpieces, used an old farmhouse screen door to display childhood photos, used Longaberger baskets to display their wedding favors of lavender soap in burlap and dried lavender and birdseed hearts. Matthew and Joshua exchanged their own vows, which made them both even more excited about their future together. Their wine fountain was a huge hit, while their DJ kept the party going for the entire reception. Joshua says their wedding brought their entire family closer together, and those who attended could see the love between him and Matt; he adds they are very fortunate to have such supportive family and friends, which also helped during the entire wedding planning process to simply be together and enjoy the day.
