Wedding Wednesday: The Mullens Wedding

The Mullens Wedding | May 6, 2017 | Photography by: Pat Cori Photography

Jennifer Hinson met Jim Mullens after a coworker suggested that they meet for drinks soon after she moved to Roanoke. They chatted for several hours, following their first date with a second and third. Jennifer remembers those hours being easy and the most "right" feeling she's ever had. Jennifer found a card sitting on the staircase landing one night as she walked downstairs. She read a note full of sentimental thoughts about their love before she walked into the kitchen to find the room full of lit candles and Jim down on one knee. After Jennifer said yes, the couple popped a bottle of champagne and spent the night celebrating.

Jennifer says that the day was perfect. The couple chose to keep the occasion simple and small, letting the vendors handle the details to create the wedding of Jennifer and Jim's dreams. "Our wedding embodies everything that is important to us," Jennifer says. "Friends and family are at the top of that list." One of the unique features of their wedding was the live band the couple booked for the reception. After the last song, guests cheered and chanted for "One more song!," something that Jennifer says she can't remember ever seeing at another wedding. Both Jennifer and Jim agree that their favorite part of the wedding, though, was the First Look because it gave them a few minutes alone to settle their nerves during the fast-paced day.
