Wedding Wednesday: The Burch Wedding
The Burch Wedding | June 2, 2018 | Photography by: Ruth Photography
Lindsay Hall and Dennis “Yale” Burch met through mutual friends at Radford University. The chemistry was instant. The first night they spent time together they stayed up late into the night in Lindsay’s kitchen talking as if they had known each other for years. It was just the two of them on a Friday night at home when Dennis popped the question.
Opting for a non-traditional venue, the wedding took place at the historic Stoneleigh Estate in Stanleytown, VA. Lindsay and Dennis loved it so much after a visit that they knew this was where their wedding needed to happen. The ceremony was traditional and the couple opted for instrumental music with a heavy focus on violin and piano for the processional. The special day was full of homemade touches made by Lindsay’s father. He crafted the cross used as the centerpiece of the ceremony and the sign for the wedding. The project took him over three weeks to complete, but combined with the florals, Lindsay credits these pieces for creating her dream wedding canvas.
Following a classic southern charm theme, they served BLT sliders, deviled eggs, fruit, ginger apple seared chicken breast, braised beef medallions, creamy home-style macaroni and cheese, country style green beans with smoky ham hock and grilled local vegetables. Lindsay recalls the music going beyond all of her expectations as it transitioned from the ceremony to the reception, playing their favorite music from the ‘60s to today that kept everyone on the dance floor well into the night.
