Wedding Wednesday: The Nye Wedding
The Nye Wedding | June 2, 2018 | Photography by: Kemper Mills Fant Photography
Jaci Clark and Clay Nye met through a blind date when Jaci stepped way out of her comfort zone and agreed to be Clay’s date to a fraternity Christmas cocktail. Her leap of faith paid off, as she ended up having an amazing time, and afterwards Clay ignored the “wait three days to call” rule and immediately asked her out to dinner the next day. The two have been together ever since.
Eight years later on a hike to McAfee’s Knob, Clay took Jaci to their favorite spot away from the hustle and bustle of the main lookout. Once they got to their special rock, Clay asked their friends to stay behind and take a picture of them. It was then that Clay got on his knee and asked for Jaci’s hand in marriage.
Some of the couple’s most memorable moments of the special day are getting “iced” by the bridal party upon entering the reception (and Jaci kicking Clay’s butt at it) and the couple’s first dance which they’d never practiced but Clay still managed to knock the dips out of the park. They also loved the introductions of the wedding party, as they had little “roasts” for each bridesmaid and groomsman. They were introduced in pairs, then took a shot together and went to the dance floor.
Despite having their plans of holding the ceremony in the courtyard outside derailed by the weather, the florist and hotel did an amazing job of creating a beautiful space inside in a short amount of time. And it turned out to be quite the blessing – everyone was thankful for the air conditioning!
