Wedding Wednesday: The Patterson Wedding
The Patterson Wedding | June 9, 2018 | Photography by: Meredith Sledge Photography
Meredith Brammer and Logan Patterson met through a mutual friend on MySpace back in 2006. They attended different high schools, with Logan being one year ahead, but they remained together all through high school and college, where they both attended Virginia Tech. After graduation, Logan moved to Charlottesville for graduate school at UVA, and Meredith attended Jefferson College of Health Sciences for her Accelerated Bachelors in Nursing.
The two have always been serious Virginia Tech fans, so in the summer of 2016 they went to tour the new football practice facility. Throughout college they’d bonded over attending every game together. After the tour they decided to take a picture together in the middle of the field, which is when Logan got down on one knee and proposed. It was a very special moment as they got engaged in one of their favorite places.
For the wedding, it was important to Meredith and Logan to focus on having a great time with their guests rather than following tradition. Meredith’s cousin, a Navy Lieutenant Commander, was their wedding officiant, and together the cousins created a unique ceremony that included details that were meaningful to her and Logan. They kept it short and sweet, and Meredith was insistent that the day be fun and memorable. After a cocktail hour the guests were invited inside the Plantation House for a buffet dinner, toasts, and cutting the cake. The guests were free to move between the indoor and outdoor space for the rest of the night, which was full of drinks, fun and dancing. The night ended with a sparkler exit, where they drove off to stay at the Hotel Roanoke.
The couple’s favorite moment, however, happened during the ceremony. The officiant asked the two to look out into the audience to see everyone that had traveled to spend their special day with them. After looking into each other’s eyes, Meredith and Logan looked out into the crowd. Meredith remembers being filled with so much love and joy seeing all of their favorite people in one place, many of whom had watched the couple grow from young teenagers to adults, which made her feel even more connected to Logan.
