Wedding Wednesday: The Leet Wedding

The Leet Wedding | April 22, 2017 | Photography by: Tara Lilly Photography & Design

Molly Webster and Jordan Leet attended the same high school, but they didn't become friends until college, when they reunited during a winter break. A few years after they started dating, the couple took a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, a place that Molly's family had vacationed and had many special memories. In front of the Pineapple Fountain, Jordan proposed, with Molly's sister and brother-in-law present to capture the moment with photos and a video!

On their rainy wedding day, the couple didn't care that it wasn't 100% according to plan. According to Molly, the whole day was "perfect," from the personalized vows to the dancing to the exit. Molly wore her mother's veil, and a table at the reception showed photos of the couple's family members on their wedding days. The romantic reception was accented with lavender floral arrangements and wreaths, and when it was time for the newlyweds' first dance, they swayed to Dave Matthews, Molly's favorite band. It was very important to the couple for their families to play a large role in their special day, so in an nontraditional move, Jordan had two Best Men and 4 groomsmen, while Molly's sister was her Matron of Honor and her brother the Man of Honor. "We wanted the siblings and friends that have supported us most standing beside us," Molly says.

Wedding Wednesday: The Kreger Wedding

Lee & Sarah Kreger | August 16, 2014 | Photography by Rothwell Photography

Despite both growing up in Roanoke, it wasn't until college the two were introduced by a friend at a party in Blacksburg where Sarah was living. Lee moved to Richmond for dental school while Sarah finished college at Virginia Tech and later moved to Richmond as well. With their five year anniversary approaching the week before Easter, Lee decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and take Sarah to a wine tasting and then to his family's lake house at Smith Mountain Lake. When they walked in the door, there was a path of rose petals leading to an Easter basket filled with bridal magazines and Sarah's engagement ring. The theme of the wedding was classic and timeless and took place outdoors with the view of the beautiful mountains and vineyard. White flowers and touches of blush pink and navy accented the reception inside to keep it clean and classic while also fun and formal. The men wore navy blue suits with monogrammed pink gingham bowties while the ladies wore blush pink dresses to match the theme. Being that the reception took place at a vineyard, it was only fitting to have cocktail hour on the veranda with passed hors d'oeuvres such as oyster shooters and artichoke crostini. Later guests enjoyed a three course meal of spinach and feta cheese salad and baked flounder stuffed with crab meat, grilled filet mignon, seared chicken with ratatouille, or truffle risotto. The wedding cake featured four tiers of vanilla cake with buttercream and chocolate hazelnut with marzipan. Sarah also presented Lee with a groom's cake in the shape of a dentist's white coat. She incorporated other Southern traditions such as burying the bourbon, a cake pull, and of course, monograms galore!

Wedding Wednesday: The Hanna Wedding

John & Carter Hanna | August 3, 2013 | Photography by Sam Dean

John and Carter met in 2007 thanks to their families pushing them to meet. For his proposal during a family vacation, John first asked Carter's father and grandfather for her hand in marriage. After their approval, John took Carter for a walk on the beach; they returned to find her family waiting with champagne. Their family and friends played a large part in their wedding, thanks to each of them doing readings, greeting guests at the church and as flower girl and ring bearer. One of Carter's favorite memories of her wedding was incorporating her grandfather into her day - due to a last minute issue, he could not make it to the actual wedding. Carter surprised her family with a life-sized cutout "Granddad" that spent the entire weekend with them at the rehearsal, getting their makeup done, and even dancing at the reception! Because Carter has a passion for blue and white, plus John's love of bright colors, they used blue and white urns that he'd collected over the years with flower colors that popped. The blue and white lent to an Asian theme with their decorations and guests were given colorful fortune cookies as favors. At the end of the night when the band announced the last song, the happy bride actually burst into tears because she couldn't believe the night was over. Lucky for her, the band never wants to see the bride cry so they played one more song for her! The couple celebrated their new marriage with a honeymoon to the British Virgin Island, where they relaxed on a peaceful beach.
