Wedding Wednesday: The Hiner Wedding

Paul & Kira Hiner | October 12, 2013 | Photography by Stephen Mills Photography

After meeting each other at work and becoming an inseparable couple, Paul and Kira moved into their first home together years later. That big move wasn't the only one they would make together that weekend as Paul also proposed two days later. The couple loves everything fall related, so it only made sense for them to get married in October with a fall themed wedding and color scheme of orange, burgundy, and yellow. These colors were carefully weaved into the wedding party's outfits to match the gray dresses and suits. The décor featured leaves and pumpkins throughout as well as many monogrammed elements such as their wooden monogram used as a guestbook. Kira kept things very unique such as her walk down the aisle to "Marry Me" by Train instead of the traditional wedding march as well as having a floating votive candle for the Unity Candle portion of the ceremony. Other special elements included the personalized tank tops Kira made for her and her bridesmaids to get ready in, the monogrammed Chuck Taylors she wore for the reception to match the guys, and the officiant's guide dog who was present for the ceremony. The reception consisted of a passed hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour plus a four course dinner including their wedding cake. The dance order was also nontraditional as Paul and his mother had the first dance, then Kira and her father with their choreographed dance to "Do You Love Me" by the Contours, and the couple's first dance to "Your Arms Feel Like Home" by 3 Doors Down. The fun didn't stop there! Paul returned for the garter toss in gym shorts and tall socks to do his best Risky Business impersonation. The couple gave engraved pint glasses as favors to their guests and also a pumpkin to take home with them. They ended their evening by driving away in the father of the groom's newly purchased 1980 baby blue Corvette, but they decided to come back. The couple continued their fun in their honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Wedding Wednesday: The Winge Wedding

Justin & Ashley Winge | September 28, 2013 | Photography by Tara Lilly Photography & Design

Justin and Ashley met through mutual friends (who coincidentally were married the weekend after the Winges!). One night when she came home, she found Justin on one knee with "Marry Me" spelled out in rose petals. Ashley says her favorite memory was walking down the aisle. Being surrounded by friends and family and sharing their special day made her emotional. Ashley wanted a vintage elegance theme for her day, with the classic touches such as church ceremony, black tuxedos, and beautiful ball gown. Muted colors of pinks, purple, greens, blues, and yellows complemented their decor, including centerpieces in tall glass goblets on round mirrors. Ribbon and crystal embellished votives lined the mirror, while the flowers included dahlias, hydrangeas, garden roses, anemones, and more. Ashley's champagne organza ball gown had a sweetheart neckline with embroidered lace, with the waistline accented with a Swarovski brooch. She later changed into a short white dress for the reception. Guests chose their favorites pieces from the extensive candy bar and also took home little succulents at their place settings. They also signed a guest tree, rather than book, with a custom oak tree drawing with the couple's name and wedding date; guests could sign a leaf on the tree and it now hangs on display at their home! The couple went to Cancun for their honeymoon, staying in Live Aqua for its spa-like atmosphere where they could relax and enjoy each other's company as man and wife.

Wedding Wednesday: The Tice Wedding

Justin & Ashley Tice | August 31, 2013 | Photography by Tiffany Maxfield Photography

Justin and Ashley first met in high school. A month after they had a class together, he asked her to prom and the rest was history. For his proposal, Justin had a little help from their cat, Bella. He'd made dinner for Ashley and as she talked about her day, she bent down to say hi to Bella and noticed a piece of her baby blanket on the cat's neck. Her gorgeous ring was attached and before he could even ask, she shouted "Yes!" Ashley describes her favorite moment of the wedding when she walked down the aisle towards her future husband. The preacher read a poem in honor of her father, while her brother gave her away; she wiped away Justin's tears and cried with him and she knew that was the happiest moment of her life. Many of the details of their wedding were handmade, including signs and borrowed antique furniture and china. Ashley spent months thrift store shopping and crafting, plus her bridal party helped with calligraphy and more. An old door was made into a chalkboard for the dinner menu, while an old frame became a chalkboard wedding program. Ashley's favorite part of the details were her handmade wedding invitations. Their vintage country wedding took place on a farm overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, with hay bale seating for the ceremony. Centerpieces were candleholders with lace and pearls, while mismatched flower vases were filled with wildflowers and greenery grown during the summer. Some tables also had books and dollies to add height to the vases. Guests were welcomed to the candy bar with everything from Skittles to gummy bears and personalized suckers. Ashley's mother cooked all the food, including fried chicken, pork loin, green beans, mac and cheese and more, while her aunt made apple pies and peach cobblers. The newlyweds took a cruise honeymoon that stopped in Roatan Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel Mexico.
