Wedding Wednesday: The Rawlings Wedding

Michael & Anna Rawlings | July 27, 2013 Photography by Noah Magnifico Photography

Michael and Anna met at Roanoke College during the fall semester. After a lunch together, they were inseparable. On a family trip to the beach, Anna and Michael went out to take pictures. Michael pointed out a sandcastle and suggested they take a look. Upon closer inspection, Anna found a ring box atop the castle's tower and Michael proposed. One of the ways their ceremony was unique was because of their unity sand. The mothers poured sand in their respective child's vases; the fathers gave a blessing and poured the remainder of the sand in. During the ceremony, Michael and Anna poured the sand into a center vase to symbolize their families becoming a new, whole one. Anna also says her favorite moment of the wedding was walking down the aisle. She and Michael were both emotional and their excitement and love is something she will treasure forever. A color scheme of Bayside blue with accents of silver and pink were shown in the bridal party's attire and bouquets. Centerpieces were a large vase with sand in the bottom, a white candle in the center, and various faux pearls around the candle. Guests had a candy bar for favors, while the couples exit was with bird seed and sparklers. A four-tiered cake with different flavors served as dessert. Anna was also thrilled to fulfill the "something old, new, borrowed, blue, and an Irish six pence in your shoe" saying thanks her family members. The newlyweds split their honeymoon into three sections: Pigeon Forge, TN with Anna's family; Sullivan's Island outside of Charleston, SC with Michael's family; and a cruise for just the two of them to the Western Caribbean.
