Wedding Wednesday: The Gregory Wedding

The Gregory Wedding | November 11, 2017 | Photography by: Chelsea Anderson Photography

Lacy Grindstaff and Garrett Gregory met in college, through the Baptist Collegiate Ministries at Virginia Tech. They became great friends quickly, and a romance soon followed. While taking Lacy on a tour of some of their most meaningful places in their relationship, Garrett was planning on asking Lacy to be his wife, and the tour ended on the Tech drillfield with a sweet letter and Garrett's proposal. "It was such a fun night because we got to relive the best parts of our relationship!" Lacy says.

Lacy and Garrett's special day was made picture-perfect thanks to an elegant color scheme of gold, champagne and blush, as well as a location that allowed the couple to get their favorite photo: their sparkler exit! The couple says that their wedding was unique because of all of the love that they experienced from the people that all gathered to support them. "To us, it felt uniquely joyful," Lacy says, "I would argue that we were uniquely blessed to be surrounded by so many people who were so genuinely joyful with us in celebrating out marriage." After the ceremony, which the couple viewed as the culmination of their excitement, the guests were handed out custom koozies and coffee favors, adding a fun and personalized spin to Lacy and Garrett's joyful day. "The joy that we felt is a feeling neither of us will ever forget!" Lacy says.

Wedding Wednesday: The Addington Wedding

The Addington Wedding | October 14, 2017 | Photography by: Hope Taylor Photography

Melissa Brown and John Addington dated in high school, and even then they had an immediate connection. After going their separate ways after John left for college, they found, 14 years later, when they happened to be in the same local restaurant, that their connection was still as strong as ever. Melissa, who had moved back into town and found the dating pool to be shallow, thought about John and wondered what he had been up to. She saw him in the restaurant, and went up to him to say hi. John saw that Melissa was as beautiful and bubbly as ever, so he asked her out two nights later, and the rest is history. In December of 2016, John and Melissa were renovating her grandmother's house, and inside one of the cleared-out rooms was a wrapped present for Melissa. She opened it to see some chocolates and a photo album dedicated to their "Nexts," such as their "Next Smile" or "Next Kiss." John then got down on one knee and proposed to Melissa in a moment that was so special to her because of all of the good times that she'd had with her family in that room.

Melissa and John's wedding was tailored to their personalities perfectly. The festive fall ceremony was Melissa's favorite memory from the day because she was ecstatic to be marrying her best friend and "starting our forever officially." The joyful occasion was made special by the couple's first look, in which John was overcome with emotion seeing his bride. "I've never seen anything so beautiful in my entire life," John says. It was important to the couple to involve their family in their special day, and so they decided that Melissa's aunt and uncle's farm in Bridgewater, VA was the perfect place to tie the knot, because they had had so many good memories there. Melissa and John wanted their guests to have the time of their lives at their wedding, so, thanks to a lively band and the jars of applebutter that guests took home as favors at the end of the night, the rustic farm wedding was a celebration that they would cherish forever.

Wedding Wednesday: The Brenton Wedding

The Brenton Wedding | August 5, 2017 | Photography By: Lauren Paige Photography

Julia Koff and Andrew Brenton were in ninth grade at Hidden Valley High School when they had their first date, not knowing that, 13 years later on a perfect summer day, they would become husband and wife. The couple drifted apart when they both went off to their respective schools, Julia to George Mason and Andrew to East Tennessee State. When they both ended up back in Roanoke, they rekindled their high school romance. After purchasing a beautiful diamond ring, Andrew enlisted the help of the couple's three dogs to assist him in proposing to Julia: each dog brought a note to her, asking, "Will you marry me?" Julia, wholeheartedly and without any hesitation, said yes.

The couple's celebration took place with a picturesque view of the mountains behind them, surrounded by gorgeous scenery and lovely weather. The wedding, with the theme of "mountains and romance," was brought to life with a color scheme of mauve, dusty rose, ivory and pops of gold. It was important to Julia and Andrew that their nine-month-old daughter Eva be included in the festivities, so, with a crown of baby's breath perched on her head, Eva was pulled down the aisle in a white wagon as the flower girl. The stunning landscape of the Roanoke Valley paired with the elegant details of the ceremony allowed Julia and Andrew to be united in what was a beautiful ceremony where they could profess their love for each other in the presence of their closest friends and family.
