Even though Cameron and Ben grew up only minutes away from each other, they didn’t get together for several years. Cameron had been out for a friend’s party, and she spotted Ben at the bar. Initially she had just stopped to say hi, but she ended up sitting next to him and talking for a while. By the end of the night they had exchanged numbers, and the rest was history.
Ben proposed in February, on an early hike to Roaring Run. The mountain had been the site of the first hike they went on together. While Cameron knew he would eventually propose, she was still shocked when he pulled out a ring. She was also happy, because she knew the right guy had found her.
Cameron’s favorite part of the wedding was having her friends and family to celebrate the day with. The ceremony took place in the church she grew up in, and the reception was at an inn down the street. Cameron and her bridesmaids even had a sleepover at the inn the night before the wedding! The whole thing felt like home, and that made it even more special for Ben and Cameron.
They used gold, white, and burlap for colors in their shabby chic theme, decorating with a lot of mercury glass and candles. They gave out honey as party favors from Ben’s dad and friend’s own bee farm. Cameron’s bouquet was an elegant arrangement of white roses, hydrangeas, and stephanotis.
Guests were able to enjoy six flavors of cupcakes, displayed on vintage cake stands. The tables were covered in tablecloths from her grandmother. A live band kept the dance floor packed, and a fire pit outside invited guests to flow from one spot to another.
Having the wedding in the same town both the bride and groom grew up was what made their wedding so special for them, and having so many friends and family there let them feel truly blessed. Friends hosted the bridesmaids’ luncheon the day before, and Cameron’s aunt and uncle hosted a brunch the day after so everyone could spend just a little longer together. Cameron and Ben couldn’t have asked for anything more.
