Nicholas & Hayleigh Worgan | October 12, 2013 | Photography by Jessica Lyn Patterson Photography
Nick and Hayleigh met in their ninth grade History class, after Nick paid a classmate ten bucks to switch seats with him so he could sit behind his future bride. It took a while for that, though, as both of them were too afraid to say anything! After high school, they discovered their mutual crushes, though it wasn't until after college graduation that the two became inseparable. On Christmas Eve, Nick invited her mom and stepfather over to his house for dinner, where he proposed in front of their families - so she couldn't say no! One of Hayleigh's more memorable moments involved the ceremony and rings. Nick's dad, the officiant, advised not to tie the rings too tight to the pillow so it wouldn't be difficult during the ceremony. Hayleigh loosened the strings, but her stepdad worried they'd get lost, and tightened them. During the ceremony, the minutes it took to loosen them were "agonizing" but they found themselves laughing. Hayleigh had her father, stepfather, and grandfather walk her down the aisle, while her mom was one of her matrons of honor. The contemporary wedding theme included purple (her favorite color) and green accents (Nick's favorite). Hayleigh's mother made all of the flower arrangements, including the bridal bouquet, and they made sure to have lots of yellow flowers as a tribute to Hayleigh's great-grandmother. Their cake was a true representation of the bride and groom, with half as camouflage and the other half plan with flowers from the bouquet on the side. The Worgan newlyweds plan on taking a honeymoon for their anniversary.
Hayleigh also wanted to add her piece of advice to brides: Don't stress too much! "Little things can and will go wrong. It rained on the morning of our wedding. We forgot our cake topper at home, my ringbearer lost his tie, and a flower girl forgot her petals. We didn't let them get to us; I am so glad I was able to enjoy my day for what it was - the day I married the man of my dreams."
