Wedding Wednesday: The Bailey Wedding

The Bailey Wedding | April 29, 2017 | Photography by: Kemper Mills Fant Photography

Courtney Rocovich and Shelby Bailey met at a mutual friends house and instantly connected. They stayed up most of the night talking and when Courtney left the next day, Shelby made sure to get her number. Later they talked on the phone for six hours straight and the rest is history. During a late night walk along the beach in Playa del Carmen, Shelby nervously got down on one knee and proclaimed that he never wanted to live one day of his life without her. Courtney's engagement ring is made of sequoia wood, which is symbolic of their first trip as a couple to the Sequoia National Forest.

The couple's favorite wedding day memory was when Courtney, Shelby and Harper, their flower girl and Courtney's daughter, gathered together to a tree watering ritual. They watered a magnolia tree that would later be planted in their yard. Harper was so excited and happy for the family that she cried, making the moment just a bit more special for everyone. Some of the unique features of the wedding include a nondenominational ceremony and personalized wedding vows that embodied both their traditional values and the individual characteristics that make them a unique couple. The couple decided not to ask for gifts and instead asked guests to bring stuffed animals for the pediatric patients at Carilion Clinic where Courtney works.

Wedding Wednesday: The Dawley Wedding

The Dawley Wedding | September 24, 2016 | Photography by: Kemper Mills Fant Photography

Lauren Ammar and Troy Dawley met at Carilion Clinic where they had an instant connection. Despite having a bit of a long distance relationship (Troy in Texas and Lauren in Virginia), the couple brought a new light into each others lives. Troy proposed on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy. Early one morning on a dock in Venice, Troy hired a photographer to capture the moment and asked the question just as a boat full of people floated by and cheered for the happy couple. They spent the rest of the trip celebrating.

Troy says that his favorite part of the wedding was during the ceremony when he was watching Lauren walk down the aisle because he "couldn't wait to be her husband.". The rich wine and gold mixed with floral patterns made the wedding a perfect transition from summer into fall. Mixed china and "his and hers" cocktails added charm during the reception. Guests were delighted by the choreographed father-daughter dance as well as the first husband-wife dance, adding a special uniqueness to the whole day.

Wedding Wednesday: The Hofnagle Wedding

The Hofnagle Wedding | October 4, 2014 | Photography by Kemper Mills Fant Photography

Malaina met Eddie through a mutual friend. They both felt an instant attraction and wanted to know more about each other. After a few chance meet ups, Eddie insisted that Malaina go out to dinner with him, and they've been together ever since.

The couple was packing to head to Knoxville, TN for a weekend with family when Eddie got down on one knee. He had planned to propose while with Malaina's relatives, but he couldn't wait.

Malaina and Eddie had an intimate, family-oriented wedding. Though Malaina's family is from St. Louis and Eddie's is from New Jersey and Arkansas, everyone came together to celebrate the couple's union. This made the wedding particularly special, Malaina recalls.

The vows were officiated by Malaina's brother, with whom she is incredibly close. To add to the intimacy of the moment, there was no wedding party involved in the ceremony: the focus was entirely on Malaina and Eddie. Malaina wanted everything to be "simple, pretty, and classic" so there was no theme or particular wedding colors in mind when planning. Most of the decorations were light and minimalist. The couple wanted most for everyone to have a fun and relaxing time, so they downplayed cliché's and formalities.

Malaina and Eddie's wedding was filled with personal touches. The couple's cake was expertly made to match Malaina's elegant floral dress, and her bouquet was crafted with classic beauty in mind. Though Malaina originally wanted a very simple nosegay, she couldn't turn down the beautiful arrangement Caroline LaRocca made for her out of stephanotis flowers, crystals, and snowberries. The couple also created their own playlist, which ended up being very popular. And, for favors, Malaina and Eddie gave out Italian Jordan Almonds to pay homage to Eddie's Italian heritage. They represented "health, wealth, and happiness" for the couple as they began their lives as newlyweds.
