Tyler & Caron Trumbo | August 3, 2013 | Photography by Spencer Selvidge
Tyler and Caron were only in the eighth grade when they met at a Lord Botetourt High School football game. For Tyler's proposal, he worked with her family to make Caron believe she was taking her aunt on a surprise scavenger hunt for her 60th birthday. On their way to the last clue, Caron and her aunt agreed to be blind-folded as they arrived on Lord Botetourt's football field, where 150 of her closest friends and family formed an aisle on the 50 yard line holding helium balloons. As she made her way down the aisle, everyone handed her their balloons and well-wishes. Doves were released and Caron of course said yes! For her wedding day, Caron says that it's difficult to choose one favorite memory, but has to pick the parachute photo session. Their bridal party held it up while they ran under, giving the newlyweds a few moments of "us" time. With their large family and mutual friends, their attendance was a unique piece of their wedding, with around 350 guests. Caron and Tyler's carnival themed wedding had many fun elements - corn dogs, carnival games, a cake walk, and even square dancing. Friends and family helped set up, bringing in hay bales, putting tables and chairs up, figuring out how to store hundreds of freeze pops, and much more. Building a carnival was no easy task and took many hours and help from her friends. The happy couple went to Nantucket for their honeymoon, where they spent a week at a bed and breakfast, wanting a mixture of beach and history.
