Robert & Elizabeth Mauck | June 29, 2013 | Photography by Tara Lilly Photography & Design
After a heartfelt proposal one foggy night at the Mill Mountain Star, Elizabeth knew she wanted a traditional themed wedding. The color scheme was royal blue with teal and peach accents. One of the couples' favorite aspects of their wedding was the fire truck they rode on as they exited the Vinton War Memorial as a nod to Robert's profession. They also made sure to incorporate many elements honoring their family members as well. The mantle showcased wedding photos of Robert and Elizabeth's parents, grandparents, and siblings. Elizabeth's bouquet was bound with handkerchiefs from her grandmothers and great aunt. She also wore her mother's wedding shoes and sister's veil as her something old and borrowed. Her something blue was a pearl and sapphire bracelet from her maid of honor. In keeping with the traditional theme, Robert and Elizabeth did not see each other before the wedding but had a "first touch" instead to talk and pray together. The tables, where guests dined on an option of beef or chicken with various sides, featured a mix of lanterns, vases, and flower arrangements. Elizabeth was especially proud of the dessert, which was the ornately designed wedding cake she specially requested. The first dance to "I Love You This Big" by Scotty McCreery also had a unique touch. Before the dance, Robert took off his jacket to reveal his dress shirt with the Virginia Tech logo on the sleeves to support his alma mater. The couple wrapped up their evening with a sparkler send-off before leaving for their honeymoon in St. Lucia.
