Wedding Wednesday: The Hedrick Wedding

Bryan & Emily Hedrick | September 14, 2013 | Photography by Lori Hedrick Photography

Bryan and Emily met online, thanks to Bryan's thoughtful description of himself; by the end of the date, Emily knew he was the one for her. The couple eventually began to discuss marriage and Emily began the search for the perfect venue. The day she and Bryan went to meet the wedding coordinator at Natural Bridge, Bryan surprised her by proposing under the bridge, sealing the deal on making it THE venue for them! Emily says her favorite part of the wedding day was seeing the big grin on Bryan's face as she walked down the aisle. For her, nothing compared to the feeling of seeing your special person look at you with so much love. She also says the most unique aspect of their wedding was how much her family and friends contributed to the day; her mom did decorations, a family friend addressed invitations and wrote signs, a cousin was the DJ, two aunts did makeup and emceed, another friend took engagement photos, and two friends served as guitarists. It was definitely a family (and friend) affair! Even before any wedding details happened, Emily knew she wanted a birdcage veil and be surrounded by sunflowers. A lace champagne dress, vintage shoes from her aunt's wedding twenty years prior, and classic rock added to the vintage vibe, while burlap decorations and tablecloths, sunflower, orange gerber daisy and hydrangea centerpieces and bouquet added to the rustic feel. Dark teal bridesmaids' dresses complemented the autumn hues. Emily describes their day as "sweet" too, with the candy favor bar, the shy couple's first dance together, a speech from Emily's father that didn't leave a dry eye in the house, and her two year old nephew stealing the show in his tiny tux. The newly married couple went to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina to relax and have small adventures such as kayaking.

Wedding Wednesday: The Lephew Wedding

Cameron & Melinda Lephew | August 3, 2013 | Photography by Noah Magnifico Photography

Cameron and Melinda met while attending Radford University, their first date coming about due to a bet that Cameron lost (he had to buy her lunch after his team lost in a day-long race!). On the day Cameron proposed, the couple was enjoying a relaxing afternoon after Christmas; they have a longstanding game of holding their arms out as wide as possible while saying "I love you THIS much." As they played their game, Cameron sounded more serious than usual; Melinda looked up to find him holding the important ring box. Cameron had already spoken with Melinda's father for his blessing, wanting to surprise her after Christmas with one more extra special gift. Melinda says her wedding was unique thanks to the little details. As she got ready for the wedding, Cameron's mother came in with a gift from the groom, a new snow globe that Cameron had made, and was extra special because of the significant meaning for the couple. Melinda carried her grandmother's handkerchief in her bouquet and they also used the same knife that Cameron's parents had used to cut their own wedding cake. A black and fuchsia color scheme was chosen, where the bridesmaids wore black dresses and shoes, groomsmen wore black tuxedos with fuschia vests and ties, and the flower girls wore fuchsia dresses. Because the stargazer lily is Melinda's favorite flower, she used it in her bouquets, centerpieces, and the wedding cake. Centerpieces for the tables consisted of a square mirror tile with three white candles floating in glasses, with rows of black rhinstones around the top of the glass holder. Pink, clear, and black gems were scattered around on the tables. Guests were given small mint tins as favors that read "mint to be" on the lid. They also tossed heart-shaped rice for the couple's reception exit. For their honeymoon, the Lephews spent a tropical week at Sandals Negril in Jamaica.

Wedding Wednesday: The Crowe Wedding

Mike & Crystal Crowe | May 4, 2013 | Photography by Noah Magnifico Photography

Crystal Harrington's prayer for a tall, funny, family man was answered in the form of one Mike Crowe, who proposed to her on camera while they took photos of themselves in football jerseys. For these two, their wedding was all about family (Crystal has a 15-year-old daughter, while Mike has a 10-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son). Crystal and Mike gave the kids engraved tokens to honor the day; Crystal's favorite memory was when her daughter gave her bridesmaid speech and explained how much she loved Mike for treating her like one of his own. A purple and green color palette was chosen for the wedding, with purple and white balloons at the ceremony, rose and carnation pomanders on the aisle and centerpieces, and bouquets with purple calla lilies, cream roses, and purple carnations. The family made strawberry jam for favors, while the cake resembled Crystal's gorgeous wedding gown. Crystal and Mike celebrated with a honeymoon in Punta Islita Resort in Costa Rica, where she crossed "zip lining across a rainforest" off her bucket list!
