Wedding Wednesday: The Falcocchia Wedding

The Falcocchia Wedding | June, 27 2015 | Photography by: Megan Vaughan Photography

Once meeting men in bars lost its appeal, Cally took her friend’s advice and signed up for David was her fourth date. He arrived with a purple rose to their Friday night Dinner-and-a-Movie, and they arranged to see each other the very next day. They’ve been inseparable ever since.

David proposed to Cally while they were visiting her family in Illinois. On the way to dinner, they stopped at a neighbor’s house at the request of her mother. While waiting, her mom suggested they walk through the Japanese Garden next door and take some pictures. Cally, more than ready for dinner, tried to refuse, but reluctantly gave in. Her brother had his phone out and instructed them to stand by a rock. While climbing onto the rock, Cally noticed a note and single purple rose in the garden. When she turned back to David, he was on one knee. Her family came out from behind the trees with champagne glasses to celebrate, and she learned her brother had filmed the whole moment while pretending to take pictures.

The day of the wedding was cloudy and gloomy. The rain held off though (no doubt thanks to the bourbon they buried the month before!) and at the very last moment they decided to hold the ceremony outside. Because of that, many of the flowers and other decorations were left inside. That didn’t matter to Cally. When she rounded the corner with her father, she saw David waiting at the end of the aisle with her friends and family standing on either side. It was beautiful, and her favorite moment from the wedding.

Cally and David kept their families close on the big day. Cally wore her mother’s veil, and she wrapped one of her grandmother’s lace gloves around her bouquet. Cally and her father choreographed their father-daughter dance over Skype (They only practiced together once the day before!) David’s family gave them Candy Confetti from the “Confetti” factory in Italy, and they served it to the guests.

Instead of one large cake, they had individual cakes brought to each table so guests could serve themselves. Cally also wrote down what to expect during the wedding as a story and put it in a bag with flower petals instead of having paper programs. The non-traditional choices they made for their day made it unique and memorable for them, and they couldn’t have asked for anything more.
