Wedding Wednesday: The Charley Wedding

Craig & Marisa Charley | May 31, 2014 | Photography by Kevin Remington Photography

Craig and Marisa were clearly meant to be after finding each other online and then being suggested for one another soon after by friends. Everyone could tell they would make a good match. Marisa envisioned her proposal to happen one weekend in March of 2013, but she soon gave up on those hopes when Craig was sick and one of her dogs was injured. Despite these events, Craig still proposed and shared his realization that it was Marisa he wanted to share even these bad moments with but especially the good moments too. The couple kept things personalized and home-grown for their wedding. Marisa's former boss officiated the ceremony, which was a special touch since it was that job that brought her to Lexington on Craig's birthday. A special quilt was made by Marisa's mother who requested fabric swatches from the guests beforehand, and it symbolized the many people who love the couple. Her mother also handmade decorations such as the cake topper, place settings, and wreaths. For the reception, Craig and Marisa knew they wanted natural and local food to be served as it is a great passion of theirs, and they were lucky to find the right caterer who offered them a great family-style meal. The couple was also able to steal a few moments alone during their day as they reclined in Adirondack chairs at the reception on a hill where they toasted with champagne and watched their guests below and when they returned to the scene of their first date to share two sundaes like they had many years ago but this time as husband and wife.
