Wedding Wednesday: The Evans Wedding
Kevin & Anna Evans | June 14, 2014 | Photography by Anna Bowser Photography
Kevin was Anna's dream guy long before he was her boyfriend and now husband. He played soccer with Anna's older brother in high school, and as the younger sister Anna was left to crush on Kevin from afar. Years later a Facebook friend request sent by Kevin brought the two together for a movie night that sparked a relationship. They dated for five months before Kevin moved to Florida for the Army training, and they continued their relationship for over a year long distance. During this time, Kevin proposed during a trip they planned in Georgia as a halfway point between them. After a carriage ride in historic downtown Savannah and a fireworks show, Kevin took Anna's hand to dance with her in the park to the song "Hey Pretty Girl" by Kip Moore. As the song ended, Kevin bent to one knee and asked Anna to marry him. Anna wanted to include many personal and DIY elements into her classy, vintage wedding. She did this by using centerpieces with books to symbolize her teaching career. Other centerpieces featured floating sunflowers and upside down wine glasses with flowers tucked inside. She also used pearls throughout the decorations to incorporate the vintage element. Another personal touch was the picture of Anna and her dog displayed instead of the traditional bridal portrait to go along with the favors, which were snicker doodle cookies for guests and dog biscuits for their pets. Coincidentally, the nuptials were held on the Army's birthday, which helped them honor Kevin's service as well as their venue. Anna chose to walk down the aisle to "A Thousand Years" rather than the traditional wedding march. This was Anna's favorite moment as she walked down the aisle with her dad and saw Kevin's reaction to her for the first time. She also enjoyed exchanging letters with him beforehand without seeing each other just as they used to exchange letters when he was in basic training. It was important to the bride and groom to also include their families in their wedding, so Kevin's dad was his best man, their mother's brought dirt from their gardens to use in the tree planting ceremony, and all siblings were included by singing, reading, or being part of the wedding party.
